Monthly Fundraising Highlights

In October 2026, 73 crypto companies raised a combined $4.01 billion across 76 rounds, 3.1 times September’s $1.29 billion on exactly the same number of deals, and well above the $2.21 billion six month average. Of that total, six companies across seven rounds raised approximately $1.75 billion through IPO, debt, PIPE or post-IPO equity financings, 44% of the month on paper rather than venture equity.

The five largest financings are $3.13 billion, 78.1% of everything raised. Remove them and the other 71 rounds raised $875.5 million. That is still less than September’s entire month. Three of the five are balance sheet events rather than venture rounds. October is not a broad reacceleration, it is five very large deals sitting on top of a month that is otherwise slightly thinner than September.

Most Active Investors

Tether closed the month on five investments and led three of them: EFY Finance, Mural and Peso, plus participation in AIsa and Saber Money. Coinbase follows on four, leading one, and then a cluster at three: Sequoia (three for three), CMT Digital, Lightspeed, Pantera Capital, North Island Ventures and Anchorage.

Distribution of Fundraises by Sector

Betting & Prediction Markets led on capital raised with $1.01 billion across three rounds, accounting for roughly a quarter of October’s total. Artificial Intelligence led on deal count with twelve rounds. While September had one sector leading both measures at once, October split them. Mining ranked second on capital at $866 million from two rounds with Cipher Digital being 98% of it. Digital Asset Treasury came third at $632.9 million, almost all of it being Strive. AI’s $546.6 million is 73% SignSplit, strip that one round out and the sector reads $146.6 million across eleven, from Nous Research at $90 million down to AxiomOS at $1.5 million. Payments was the second busiest sector at nine rounds but raised just $77.1 million. Twenty five sectors recorded a round, against twenty eight in September.

Digital Asset Treasury Funding Rounds

Treasury activity returned, two rounds carry the DAT tag for $632.9 million against September's five rounds and $89.8 million. Strive's IPO accounts for $630 million of it, 7,000,000 shares of 15% Series A Perpetual SATS Preferred at $90, closing 20 October, verified against the company's closing 8-K. Strive reported purchasing 4,045 bitcoin in the week of October 12 and 6,182 bitcoin the following week, bringing holdings to 43,124 bitcoin as of October 30, and on October 26 it filed a program to sell up to $1 billion of the same preferred stock at the market. The remainder is Smarter Web Company's $2.9 million post-IPO subscription on the 5th.

BNB Standard Corporation rang the Nasdaq opening bell on October 26 and now holds the largest corporate BNB treasury at 515,544 BNB, worth about $381.8 million. None of that is October capital. The company has been Nasdaq listed since well before the pivot, most recently as CEA Industries, and funded the treasury through a $500 million private placement that closed in August 2025. October brought a rebrand, a new CEO and a bell ceremony. No financing, so no round enters this month’s tape.

Distribution of Fundraises by Stage

Debt is the largest stage of the month at $1.10 billion across just two rounds, Cipher Digital's $850 million and Ibis's $250 million, together 27.5% of October. Add Kalshi's lone Series G and Strive's lone IPO and three buckets holding four rounds between them are 68% of the month.

Seed was the most active stage of the month raising $515 million across nineteen rounds, SignSplit alone is 78% of that. The other eighteen seeds raised $115 million between them. Excluding SignSplit the band runs from Orbio at $1.2 million up to Catalyst at $30 million, with Imperial and AxiomOS at $1.5 million. The smallest disclosed cheque of any kind was Pheasant Network’s $150K public token sale. Strategic was the second busiest bucket at thirteen rounds but carried only $53.08 million, led by The DATA Foundation at $30 million.

M&A Activity

Fourteen acquisitions were announced in October, all with undisclosed value. Nine are complete and five pending. September, by contrast, disclosed $1.27 billion across sixteen deals. Standard Chartered signed definitive agreements to acquire Zodia Custody, the institutional custodian it co-founded and had backed as a minority shareholder since 2018. Payward, Kraken's parent company, agreed to buy Lithuanian lender Saldo Bank for its banking licence. Anchorage Digital, the only federally chartered crypto bank in the US, bought mass-payouts platform Routable to put itself on corporate payment rails.

Notable Fundraise Filings

Funds that reported the most recent fundraises through Form D or D/A filings.

Thirteen managers reported $100.6 million of net new capital in October. Tribe Capital was the largest single reporter at $30 million. That came from an amendment on its Firstlook DAT-01 vehicle with no new investors. It is an existing commitment being drawn, not a new raise. Brevan Howard Digital follows at $27.6 million across its two BH DK funds. StepStone Group reported $25.0 million across an onshore and Cayman pair. Those three managers are 82% of the month’s fund formation. The remaining ten shared $18.0 million between them.

Token Unlocks: October 2026 and November 2026

This chart highlights major token unlocks exclusively for investors in October 2026 and November 2026. Investor unlocks totalled $62.08 million in October, with $61.67 million lined up for November, an essentially flat month driven in both cases by the same two names. LayerZero unlocked $26.99 million on October 20, 2026 with $24.28 million to follow on November 20, 2026, while Ethena’s $18.11 million tranche of October 2, 2026 was followed by $14.30 million on November 2, 2026. Together those two are 73% of October and 63% of November. Monad’s $10.48 million on November 24, 2026 is the one genuinely new name.

Note: figures cover investor and strategic-partner allocations only, excluding team distributions and airdrops, and count cliff-style releases rather than continuous vesting schedules. Completed unlocks are valued at the token's price on the unlock date; scheduled unlocks are valued at market prices as of this writing and will move with the market.

Apefluencer Intelligence Digest

The Tie's Apefluencer tool is built on a simple observation: some of crypto's most valuable information exists in the ‘follow’ graph of a small set of Twitter/X accounts who know which founders and projects are worth paying attention to before anyone else does.

Apefluencer tracks the follow behavior of a curated network of ~580 high-signal crypto accounts (investors, funds, founders, researchers, and traders) and surfaces the accounts, projects, and narratives drawing their attention before the broader market catches on.
